Map of the Pierce Road West Area
Site Description and Birding Information: The extension of Pierce Road to the southwest of its maintained portion continues through predominantly cedar woodland passing a wet marshy area in about a kilometre. Boots are essential. The track goes straight into the Marlborough Forest for at least 3.0 km, eventually splitting north and south, with the straight continuation not really evident except on maps. The northern trail goes toward Roger Stevens Drive. This entire area should be excellent for early spring owling.
