Map of the Gallagher Road Area
Site Description and Birding Information: The length of Gallagher Road (good gravel) between Mackey and Harnett Roads is not yet completely overrun by Homo sapiens and, as such, it is one of the more "natural" stretches of road in the area. It runs through a significant block of cedar woodland, with areas of mixed second growth, and is a great spot for owling, especially in March and April, when they tend to hold annual hootenannies.
Just north of the junction of Gallagher and Mackey Roads, listen for Field Sparrow in summer.

Marlborough Forest Loop Route Directions: From wherever you are on Gallagher Road, continue south to its junction with Harnett Road. That is 2.2 km south of the junction of Gallagher and Mackey Roads. Turn right or northwest onto Harnett and park near the corner. Continue on foot into the next site in this loop, NW of Harnett Road.
