Site Description and Birding Information: This small island is near the mouth of the Rideau River. You must walk back along the bridge to the island, 100 metres from Stanley Avenue. There is access to either side from the bridge. Much of this tiny island's charm comes from the fact that there are no vehicles there. The narrow eastern channel has a marsh on the far side. The southern portion is groomed but still has an edge of bushes and trees and scattered trees throughout, excellent for migrants in season. The even smaller northern portion of the island is overgrown with trees and has only a few paths roaming through it, less visibility for birding but great for skulkers.
This site is adjacent the Green Island site from the Rideau River West Side tour.
