twinkling
ocean eyes & horizon grins
of Digby fishermen

down the beach
soundless in the roar of surf
canters a horse

a pop can rolls

along the dunes
only wind in sea grass
& a ruined villa

tide's out
& the village heart's
a mudflat

on the beach
back to the wind - I watch it
sweep my tracks
